MORGAN FINISHES SOLID FOURTH AT FINALE

Riverside, CA (October 26, 2016) –

The finale of the 2016 National Hare and Hound championship was held in Lucerne, CA where Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Precision Concepts, Maxxis racing’s Justin Morgan was looking to end the series on a high and continue the momentum that he had built with his win in the West Hare Scramble championship a couple weeks earlier. A true test of a racecourse was laid out by the 100’s MC club, as in Justin words, “this race was what I imagine a National to be…a relentless, long, technical, hard desert race.”

Justin had been working to improve his starting technique, something absolutely crucial with the inevitable dust of a desert race, but even though his bike fired on the first kick, he wasn’t able to translate that into a stellar start as he came around at the close of the first of three loops at the edge of the top ten. “It took a long time [to come through the pack] because the first loop wasn’t really ideal for passing,” commented Morgan, “but then on the second loop I worked my way up and came around in seventh.”

The third loop was pretty technical and would take its toll on some of the riders, while Justin held a solid pace to take advantage and make a few final passes. Said Morgan, “I think [the third loop] was a really harsh racecourse, really a good test of the bikes and the riders, and it took a couple people out right there in the last five miles. I just kept steady, kept pushing to the end of it and it worked out for me, ending up fourth place.”

The fourth place finish netted Justin enough points to finish in a three-way tie for fifth in the final standings. Morgan’s next event will be the final round of the West Hare Scramble championship in Logandale, NV on November 6th.
