After taking the win at Laughlin, Ricky headed out to the second round of the NHHA series in Barstow, CA. After finishing second at the opening round, Ricky was aiming for the top spot. “My goal coming into the second round was not to make any mistakes [in the race] and get the win and take the points lead. I wanted a one-kick start to make it easier on myself and get into clean air, but I eventually got an eight-kick start, making it really tough on me in the dusty conditions.” Ricky came through the bomb in the mid-thirties while Ivan Ramirez took the holeshot out front. Ricky put in an incredible charge, moving into second place by the forty-five mile mark, closing to within thirty seconds of Ramirez, and just fifteen miles from the finish he was able to take advantage of a mistake Ivan made to take the lead and hold on for the win. “I’m super proud of all the hard work the team and I have put in to get the win here. Other than the start I didn’t make any mistakes all day, I felt great on the bike and wouldn’t change a thing on it. I’d like to thank all of my supporters, my family, friends, Precision Concepts, THR, Motorsports, Hoosier, FMF, SIDI, O’neal, R&M electric, SC Beard, ARAI, Beam designs, EKS Brand goggles, Dunlop, DA8 training, Acerbis, EVS, Maxima, DT1, Cyclery USA and A’ME grips.”
