CRF450X Built For Speed

The Dirt Bike magazine crew wanted to build a CRF450X built for speed. They wanted to take the bike to the longest point-to-point desert race in the States: Vegas to Reno. As they stated, “Building a bike for speed is not that difficult…making a bike that produces easy-to-ride horsepower and can also go the distance is an entirely different story.” The crew turned to out staff at Precision Concepts to help build the motor and suspension for the bike.

The motor was completely disassembled at our shop and we discovered a few issues that needed to be resolved. We ported the head, did a valve job and matched the cam to the updated porting. Our suspension department went to work on the forks and shock. The goal was to firm the suspension up while keeping it plush for the high speeds and chop.

The Dirt Bike crew had good things to say of the end results. They stated, “Our Built for Speed project is way faster than stock and handles way better! As a matter of fact, the bike is better in every way than the stock model, hands down.”
