2022 Primm WORCS

2022 Primm WORCS Report —

The WORCS series kicked off its new season in the familiar desert of Primm, NV. A fast and flowing course was laid out by the WORCS crew, which wound through the flat, sandy landscape. Throughout the weekend, the terrain would develop sharp braking and accelerating chop, along with some deep holes, making it physically demanding for the riders. Adding to the physicality for pro race—while also imparting some technicality—was a downhill-turned-sidehill boulder section. Though the weather for Sunday’s two-hour main event was pleasant, the nature of the terrain would challenge the riders greatly.

Tyler Lynn – 4th place 450 Pro

Tyler’s KX450X fired to life quickly on the dead-engine pro-race start, which put him right at the front of the field through the opening straightaways. As the riders strung out, Lynn slotted into fourth place, with the top-five riders all nose-to-tail. Over the opening lap, Tyler passed his Kawasaki into third place, finding himself in a four-rider group with Dante Oliveira, Austin Walton and Cole Martinez, which began separating itself from the rest of the pack.

Tyler held strong in third through the opening thirty minutes before settling into fourth place, right on the heels of the leaders. As the midway point of the race neared, a few mistakes saw Lynn lose the tow of the lead pack, though he still held a solid fourth. Late in the race, Tyler had a bobble in the rock section, which allowed Trevor Stewart to make the pass and put Lynn in fifth. With the white flag coming out, Lynn dug deep for the final lap and closed back in on Stewart. The two riders passed Walton—who had fallen in the rock section on the last lap—making it a battle for the final podium spot. Though Tyler was right on Stewart’s heels, he wasn’t quite able to apply the pressure, crossing the line in fourth place, just a few seconds from the final podium spot.

Robby Bell – 1st place Vet Pro

A full row of Vet riders lined up for Saturday’s race, as the few Vet pro’s lined up with over twenty Vet A riders. Off the start, Bell came together with another rider, which slowed his momentum and put him outside of the top-5 entering the first turn. From there, Robby methodically picked his way through the racers ahead. By just about the halfway point of the first lap, Bell made the pass for the lead and started to set sail. The Kawasaki rider was unchallenged from then on, taking the Vet race overall.

Robby Bell, Team Manager

“The weekend started off a little less than pleasant, as Friday and Saturday were incredibly windy. But Sunday was a beautiful day for racing, which made the Pro race all the better. This was a massive step for Tyler, in my book. He put himself right up front from the start and ran in podium contention for the first forty minutes. It was great for him to see the lead pace and realize that he can run up there with those guys. Hopefully, he can build off this, and the next time will be easier, and he’ll stick with them longer and longer. He belongs up front, and this was huge for him to show that to himself.”
