RACE REPORT: 2016 WORCS #3 | Vegas

RMATV/MC’S JUSTIN SEEDS AND ROBBY BELL HAVE STELLAR NIGHT IN VEGAS; FINISH SECOND AND THIRD

Las Vegas, NV (February 27th, 2016) –

The third round of the 2016 WORCS Championship was held at the South Point casino in Las Vegas, utilizing three arenas and a short parking lot section to make a far from ordinary racecourse for the series regulars. The consensus among the racers seemed to be that a good start was paramount to staying out of trouble on such a busy and confined race track.

When the green flag flew, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Precision Concepts, Maxxis Racing’s Justin Seeds got his bike up front with the leaders right away. Seeds ran third for the opening quarter of the race, then briefly took the lead before settling in to second behind Blayne Thompson. Justin held a solid lock on the runner-up spot for the remainder of the race, crossing the line just a few seconds behind the leader to earn his best finish of the year. “I was fortunate to get a great start and pull away from everybody behind me [early on].” said Justin of his race. “Then the two guys ahead of me had some issues and I got in front. I tried to put my own pace down from there and I just made one little mistake and let Blayne by me, but I was able to hold on to second.”

Justin talked about what this meant to him after a somewhat tough start to the year saying, “I needed this to get my confidence back up after being on the ground at pretty much every single round [this year]. This shows me that the training I’ve been doing  is paying off. I also have to give it up to Brian Garrahan for giving up his spot on the start line since I showed up late and lost my spot.”

Justin’s teammate, Robby Bell, didn’t have the same fortune off the start line, but made the most of others’ misfortunes to get inside the top three by the time the checkers came out. “My bike fired up first kick [for the dead engine start],” said Bell, “but I just didn’t get off the line the way I needed to and I think I was around twelfth or thirteenth through the first couple corners. I made a few quick moves on the first two laps to get into seventh, and then a few riders had some issues ahead of me, which put me up to fourth. I was able to get into third when Jake Argubright had a little tip over right in front of me; I was actually a little lucky not to run into him as I was slow to react when he fell, but from there the gap up to the two leaders was just too much to close down.”

The third place was still a solid finish in the bigger picture of the championship, and Robby was pleased overall on how the night turned out, stating, “None of us knew quite what to expect coming into this event, and I felt like it was the kind of race where more could go wrong than right, so to earn podium points towards the championship, and have a blast out there all night, I’m happy.”
