RACE REPORT: 2016 BIG 6 #3 | Glen Helen

RMATV/MC’S JUSTIN SEEDS AND ROBBY OVERCOME ADVERSITY AT GLEN HELEN; FINISH SEVENTH AND EIGHTH.

Glen Helen, CA (March 5th, 2016) –

Nearly dust-free conditions and ideally cool temperatures greeted the riders for Saturday’s pro race at the third round of the 2016 BIG 6 Grand Prix Championship, presented by MSR. Many of the competitors view Glen Helen as their home track, so it was no surprise to see numerous riders pushing a fast pace out front during the afternoon’s pro main event.

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Precision Concepts, Maxxis Racing’s Robby Bell didn’t get off to the best start, but made a push inside the top five early on, where he’d settle in for the majority of the race. Robby had been dealing with the flu for most of the week leading up to the event and the effects began to surface as he faded back late in the race. Bell would settle for and eighth place finish on the day, saying afterward, “A part of me hoped I would feel good enough to push the pace up front, and I did for a little bit, but I just ran out of energy late on and couldn’t keep a few of those guys behind me. It’s a bummer as far as the championship is concerned, because I lost some valuable points today, but I can’t be unhappy about the effort I put in. I went as hard as I could for as long as I could, and then just held on.”

Robby’s stablemate, Justin Seeds’ race got off to the worst possible start when he ran into issues with a few other riders on the first lap and dropped to nearly last position. Justin charged the entire race, picking riders off one at a time (one of those being his teammate on the final lap) to cross the line in seventh position. Justin wasn’t thrilled about his race, but he was quick to look at the positives afterward. “It wasn’t the greatest.” said Justin when asked how his race was. “My bike stalled on the first lap and I went to nearly dead-last. From there I started to charge, made some passes, but I think I was just a little off the pace of the front guys because I was buried so far back, so I had to settle for seventh today. It’s not the finish I wanted, especially after South Point, but on the bright side, I came away healthy and made some points toward the championship, and we’ll move on to the next one!”

Robby and Justin will likely be joined by their teammate Justin Morgan in a few weeks time, as the trio will be in action in Lake Havasu, AZ for the fourth round of the WORCS series on March 25th-27th.
