The penultimate round of the District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix championship headed to the dusty trails of the Hungry Valley OHV Park, where the start, because of the dust, would be of the utmost importance. Precision Concepts’ Justin Seeds got off to the holeshot ahead of Trevor Stewart and fellow PC team rider Robby Bell. Said Seeds, “I want to thank my teammate Robby Bell for giving me the inspirational talk right before the start. It helped me get out front early.” Justin would lead over half of the race ahead of his teammate, who just couldn’t quite find a way through the dust. Robb y later stated, “I had a couple places I was faster, but it seemed like every time I’d get close to Justin, I’d get dusted out, or he’d hear me close in on him and he’d wick his pace up a notch or two.”
Meanwhile Colton Udall was sitting in third, just behind Robby, and came in to the pits earlier than the two leaders to refuel. Over the next couple of laps, as the Precision Concepts duo came in for gas, Colton managed to take over the lead. Robby was able to make the pass on his teammate for second, but just wasn’t quite able to close the distance on Udall out front. Said Bell, “Today just wasn’t quite my day. It was dusty and square-edged and I just wasn’t willing to hang it out to the pace required to win today. But I’m happy to come away safe and build for the next race.” Seeds had a solid lock on third place until an untimely minor mechanical issue forced him into the pits on the final lap. “My rear axle nut started to come loose and my chain adjusters went forward so I had to pit on the last lap and pretty much lost all chance of finishing very well. But I got to lead more than half the race and show the speed, which was good for me.” Justin ended up sixth on the day.
Justin’s sixth place finish keeps him with a firm grip on second place in the championship, while Robby, though he’s only attended four of the seven rounds, moves into fourth place in the standings. Up next for the duo is the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix at Lake Elsinore MX Park on November 7th.
