2017 NHHA #4 | Lucerne
Riverside, CA –
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Precision Concepts’ Justin Morgan finished a solid fourth place at the fourth round of the 2017 AMA NHHA Championship. The Lucerne race course featured a traditional three-loop layout with increasing technicality. Justin didn’t get off to the greatest start, but a cross-wind cleared much of the dust ahead of him on the bomb start. The wind would help him get just inside the top ten early on. Though the first loop was fast, Justin was able to continue making passes, coming into the pits in seventh place. On the much more technical second loop, Morgan made a couple more moves by Nick Burson and Axel Pearson. He finished the second loop in fifth place. Just before a rocky downhill on the final loop, Justin was able to pass into fourth by Taylor Robert. He would hold that position to the checkers, matching his best result this year.

“I feel like I’m progressing,” commented Justin after the race, “learning how to race with the top guys. I’m learning from them and feeling confident I can run their pace now. I just need to put myself in the right position at the beginning. I played the winds pretty well off the start [today]. I didn’t get the best start, but was able to make some moves early and get in the top ten. I ended up right on the back of Sutherlin after the second loop and we both caught up to Taylor [Robert]. Just before a huge downhill I was able to get around Taylor and rode as fast as I could into the finish. A fourth place finish is good, so I just need to keep progressing.”
