2017 ISDE Qualifier | Gorman
Riverside, CA (January 31, 2017) –
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Precision Concepts’ Justin Morgan headed out to Gorman, CA for the first of the 2017 ISDE Qualifiers over the weekend. The conditions couldn’t have been much better for the event, which featured a two-day format, complete with the customary transfer sections and special tests that make up the ISDE format. Justin was able to overcome an early race issue, when a brief run-in with a tree bent the front caliper hangar on his bike, which made for a mushy front brake the rest of the weekend. In between the special tests, when time allowed, Justin tried changing the rotor and any other parts for the front brake that he could, but unfortunately wasn’t able to completely resolve the issue. Justin put in a great ride to earn a very respectable third place finish behind Nick Burson and Cody Webb.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Morgan after the race, “a pretty relaxed weekend. I made the best of what I had going. Unfortunately, the first test of the first day I hit a tree and I think it bent the caliper hangar, but I couldn’t figure it out. I changed the rotor and anything else I could, which kind of helped the problem, but the front brake was pretty squishy the rest of the weekend so I had to use the rear [brakes], mostly. I felt good about my performance; I’m happy to come away with a third. The two guys who beat me are really good riders, and for me to have a coupe issues, it was good. It’s definitely on my bucket list to race the ISDE. If I can make it happen this year that would be great, but for sure in the future.”
