The eighth round of the WORCS series headed to the familiar Southern California venue of Glen Helen, where temperatures would break the triple digit mark. Justin got off to a fast start inside the top three, but as he tried to pass for the lead up a freshly watered uphill he got pinched off and lost traction. Justin slid sideways, nearly getting T-boned by a few riders, and unfortunately had to drop back down to the bottom of the hill and turn around, relegating him to last place. Justin was carrying an ankle injury from a couple weeks prior and did his best to soldier through the pain as he worked up through the pack. A few crashes during the race stunted his progress, but he was able to recover to an eighth place finish on the day, which salvaged valuable points as he fights for third place in the final championship standings with one round to go.
Robby’s start to the race wasn’t so good, as he was just inside the top ten through the first couple corners. Robby methodically worked his way up through the pack, but the leading duo of Gary Sutherlin and Justin Jones had checked out by the time Robby made it into third place, about halfway into the race. Robby kept clicking off consistent, fast laps and was able to catch Jones with just over a lap to go, making the pass stick before the white flag flew. Though Robby was consistently the fastest rider from the second half of the race onward, the gap to Sutherlin was too great and he had to settle for second. The second place finish was enough for Robby to clinch the 2015 WORCS championship title with one round to go.
