Race Report: 2015 NHHA Round 5 | Jericho
The fifth round of the National Hare and Hound championship headed to Jericho, UT with Ricky tied in the series standings with Ivan Ramirez. The start is always crucial at the Hare and Hounds, but unfortunately for Ricky, he got off to a multiple-kick start and would have his work cut out for him as Ivan took the early lead. Ricky put in a big effort on the first of two 50-mile loops, passing all the way into the lead by the midway pit. Ricky later said the effort on the first loop took quite a bit out of him, “The second loop I just hit a gnarly wall…I definitely made every single mistake you can make at a hare and hound race. I thought Ivan was leading still, so I just wanted to finish second and get some points…The last five miles I was on struggle street…I came in, I was shaking, and I had no idea I’d won.” The impressive win gives Ricky a slim margin over Ivan in the race for the title, a race that looks as though it’ll come down to the two of them as they’ve put a bit of distance on third place.
